International Collaborations

Pashto artists collaborate internationally, blending styles and sounds to create fresh, cross-cultural music with global appeal.

International Collaborations

The Digital Archive is a cornerstone initiative of the Pashto Music Institute designed to safeguard the musical heritage of the Pashtoon people through modern preservation technologies. This project focuses on collecting, digitizing, and organizing rare recordings, lyrical compositions, images, manuscripts, and cultural artefacts into a structured and accessible digital platform. This initiative ensures that endangered musical materials—many of which are currently at risk of permanent loss—are preserved, catalogued, and made accessible to researchers, musicians, educators, and the broader public.
Project Objectives
Create a centralized digital repository of historical and contemporary Pashto music assets.
Digitize and restore analog materials including cassette tapes, LPs, and manuscripts.
Standardize metadata and cataloguing practices to ensure accessibility and longevity.
Develop a user-friendly archive platform for public, academic, and community use.
Expected Impact
Long-term preservation of valuable Pashto musical materials.
Global access to historically significant recordings and documents.
Cultural education and pride across Pashto-speaking regions and diaspora.
A sustainable digital infrastructure for future musical research and discovery.
